The DePaul Investment Fund brings together a dynamic team of student investors and researchers. Our goal goes beyond running a portfolio: we exist to bridge the gap between academic finance and practical investing, and to give DePaul students the real experience the industry demands.
01Our mission
Investing has long been gated behind expensive tools, closed institutions, and insider knowledge. We're opening it up for students.
Most students never get to manage a real portfolio or defend an investment thesis before their first job. We think that's backwards. DePaul Investment Fund members research, analyze, and manage genuine positions against live markets — on a platform built for learning — so the first time they step into an internship or trading seat, they've already done the work.
Portfolios are simulated, so members can take real intellectual risks — testing bold ideas, surviving drawdowns, and learning discipline — without real money on the line. The skills, the process, and the track record are what's real.
What membership means
A complete curriculum
A 26-module curriculum takes you from market basics through valuation, portfolio construction, and risk — all the way to a capstone investment strategy.
Professional tooling
Live charts, institutional-style order types, performance analytics, and a trading API — the same class of tools professionals use, in a safe environment.
Mentorship & community
Weekly team meetings, peer review, and shared research. Members grow together, and beginners learn alongside people one step ahead of them.

Finance, computer science, math, engineering — great investors come from everywhere.
We recruit for curiosity, not credentials. Our members' backgrounds span finance, computer science, mathematics, and engineering — and no finance degree is required to join. What unites the team is a willingness to learn markets, the honesty to test ideas rigorously, and the drive to build something measurable.
Members meet weekly to share research, review positions, and learn from one another — a community that helps DePaul students break into investing together.
